Using state-of-the-art 3D printing technology, R.G. Hardie & Co. drone extenders change the effective length of standard pitch drone reeds to play in the key of B flat (466hz).

The set includes a bass and two tenor drone extenders. The drone reed fits into the extender, which in turn, is inserted into the drone reed seat.

3D printing explained:

We create a three-dimensional object from a CAD model or a digital 3D model. This model is sent to the 3D printer which prints thin layers of UV-curable liquid plastic onto a platform, using wax to create supports that brace the part during production. UV lamps cure each layer, and the build platform lowers for the next layer. This process continues layer by layer until the part is complete.

The build material is a translucent, bio-compatible material with high durability and stability, performance for functional testing and rapid tooling applications. The support material provides for hands-free, melt-away removal of wax, once placed in the finisher oven. An ultrasonic cleaner is used to clean models from the support material or other Resin from 3D printers.
